About the Book

Regardie's personal account of his experience with those secret societies which have exerted such a great influence on the development of modern Occultism. Regardie lifts the cloak of mystery which has shrouded The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, The Rosicrucian Fraternity and The Masonic Lodge. From his close personal associations Regardie reveals the true nature and actions of such leading Occult authorities as Aleister Crowley, Dion Fortune, S.L. MacGregor Mathers, Dr. W.W. Wescott, and others.

This sixth revised edition includes new material by several modern adepts of the Golden Dawn, documents from the period of Regardie's association with Aleister Crowley which demonstrate Regardie's involvement in both the OTO and the A:.A:., and hitherto unpublished material from the Regardie archives.

Editorial Reviews

'Israel Regardie is the last representative of the great occult tradition of the late 19th century, whose major names include Madame Blavatsky, W.B. Yeats, MacGregor Mathers, A.E. Waite, Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune. Even in such distinguished company, Regardie stands out as a figure of central importance.'
-- Colin Wilson author of The Outsider

'I am deeply indebted for Regardie's influence on my life. As my therapist, teacher and friend his mercy and severity have provided me with everlasting love and guidance.'
-- Christopher S. Hyatt, Ph.D. author of Radical Undoing

'A fascinating read for anyone considering joining the Golden Dawn or learning more about their teachings.'
-- N. Mara-McKay, Spiral Nature

He taught psychiatry at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and contributed articles to many psychology magazines.
